France 2 airs the fourth and final episode of Nautilus starting tonight. Just three weeks after it started, it’s already over for this series that focuses on the youth of Captain Nemo, the iconic character of Jules Verne’s novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
But then, will this TV show originally aired on the American channel AMC be eligible for a second season? If nothing has been signed yet, it is highly doubtful! Indeed, the history of this fiction in ten episodes is, unfortunately, not in its favor.
Nautilus was canceled before it even aired
So know that the series was canceled before it even aired. It was the streaming platform, Disney+, that first launched this project. Everything seemed to be going well for the Nautilus. It had a huge budget and a story that was something the public enjoyed.
However, Disney+ simply stopped production before it even hit our small screens. the reason The streamer decided that it was financially more profitable not to air the series and claim a tax credit on the cost of production, rather than investing more money in shooting new scenes or marketing.
In addition, Disney+ had to cut $3 billion from its budget for non-sports content. So Nautilus paid the price. A terrible choice for a series that had little hope of capturing viewers.
No season 2 for Nautilus?
Fortunately, AMC, the cable channel for The Walking Dead, bought the broadcast rights Nautilus. That’s how we were able to discover it. Suffice it to say, it’s hard to imagine that the series could be renewed for a second season, despite its open ending.
In turn, Thierry Frémont (Gustave Benoit), who trusted the columns TV 7 daysKeep hope: “A second season is not out of the question if it’s a success with the audience, which I wouldn’t like…” We can only hope so!
