Warning, the following paragraphs contain spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episodes 2 and 3. If you don’t want to know anything, move on!
This Tuesday, August 27, M6 kicked off Season 7 of 9-1-1 by airing the first two episodes that put the members of Barracks 118 to the test. Since its inception, the Ryan Murphy-created series has been known for its disaster episodes that keep viewers in suspense.
And this season opener is clearly no exception to the rule, as the first three episodes see Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause) in a delicate situation, to say the least.
Athena and Bobby in a shipwreck
At the beginning of Season 7, Bob and Athena finally decide to go on their honeymoon. For the occasion, they take a romantic cruise on a luxury liner. Unfortunately, nothing goes as planned.
Their idyllic vacation is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of a group of armed terrorists. In search of a USB key containing Bitcoin, they decide to take the whole boat hostage. In the end, it was Julian, the ship’s director, who possessed the desired object.
After retrieving the USB key, the pirates take off, but not before detonating a bomb that paralyzes the ship and all communications.
When the boat sinks, the vacationers escape with life rafts. This was without considering the giant wave that capsized the ship and threw the survivors into complete chaos. Athena and Bobby’s lives are in danger again!
Will Bob and Athena survive?
Our two heroes as baddies are clearly not just about a small shipwreck ending their days. If Bob and Athena do survive, the other characters on the boat are out of luck, especially Julian, who finds redemption by saving the dead.
Meanwhile, on dry land, members of the 118th Barracks embark on a dangerous rescue mission to save the couple. They seek help from Tom, who pilots a helicopter during a storm to bring firefighters to the shipwreck.
Eventually, Athena manages to fire a distress shot, alerting the members of 118 to her position, who thus manage to save their lives. All’s well that ends well for Athena and Bobby. Unfortunately, we shouldn’t be too quick to rejoice, because at the end of Season 7, the firefighters will experience some new drama that could change everything.
Catch the next two episodes of 9-1-1 next Tuesday, September 3 from 9.10pm on M6.
