Prime Video: The new series The Office is coming soon, but there’s a twist!

The Office series is preparing to return to Prime Video, this time with an Australian version that promises to refresh the genre. After many international adaptations, it’s Australia’s turn to stage this cult comedy, but with a new twist: the lead role, the company director, is now played by a woman.

Felicity Ward, little known in France but recently seen in Bandits, Bandits (Taika Waititi version), plays Hannah Howard, the new manager of Flinley Craddick’s packaging company.

In this version, Hannah Howard receives the news from central management: her branch will be closed and her employees will have to work remotely. Refusing to disband her team, Hannah goes into survival mode, making far-fetched and improbable plans to keep her “work family” alive.

The co-workers of Flynnley Craddick’s Australian and New Zealand comedians face impossible goals before coming to terms with their boss’s eccentric schemes.

The Office debuted in 2001 with the original British version created by Ricky Gervais. This first version, recognized for its sharp humor and brutal realism, quickly acquired cult status.

A few years later, the American version with Steve Carell as Michael Scott remade the series, making it more accessible to the general public and retaining the absurd humor that made the original so successful. In France, the series was remade under the title Le Bureau with François Berlean in the lead role, offering a very French touch to this iconic format.

The Australian version of The Office will be available from October 18 on Prime Video.
