What if, after months of media drama, there was finally good news for Yellowstone fans? As we know, the end of the series was announced before the end of the year. These final episodes were filmed without Kevin Costner, in a conflict with series creator Taylor Sheridan, and unavailable due to filming of his Western mural Horizon.
A number of spin-offs have also been announced, including a sequel titled The Madison (previously titled 2024). The project will star Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox, not Matthew McConaughey, who was reported to be in advanced talks (but whose involvement no longer seems relevant).
Has the end of Yellowstone finally been postponed?
Several Yellowstone actors were contacted to appear in Madison — including Cole Hauser (Rip) and Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) — but negotiations slowed due to the latter’s financial demands. However, a solution seems to be on the verge of being found, as our colleagues here Diversity This time sparking new discussions about a potential Season 6.
It’s a surprising decision, since the series was supposed to end at the end of the fifth season. But there’s no question that Kevin Costner’s departure will allow the program’s key players to get the pay raises they’re asking for. That’s why it’s more likely that Yellowstone will eventually continue to air beyond Season 5!
The series from the world of Yellowstone can now be seen in its entirety on Paramount+, also available as part of a Canal+ subscription.
