AlloCiné: Do you still enjoy playing Valentine in Clem four years later?
Thomas Chomel : Yes, at least as much, because Valentine is a guy full of resources who can do all sorts of things. And from year to year he develops, moving to the highest stage of his life.
I am happy with his development, especially since I am growing up with him. We are of the same age. And from the beginning it was a big part of me on Valentine. He’s really “my” character. I confess quite a bit to him and I think I identify with him too. He and I will exchange a lot of things.
Even if he became a father last season and it should not always be easy for a young person your age to identify with such a situation …
Yes, besides, it is true (laughs). Obviously it’s hard to identify with that, but strangely it quickly became a pretty natural shooting pitch. I remember from the beginning, when I started filming with a kid in Season 11, I had no idea what I was doing. Because, like Thomas, I am not a father and have never had a child in my arms. And even better, that was exactly what was needed, because in the end it looked real, it was the same for Valentine. It was all very new to him as well as to me.
But this season it has become simpler and more normal. I got used to it and the babies were a little bigger, I was less nervous. I felt less of their weakness. And I have a few fewer scenes with Juliet as well. Our few scenes together are a less complicated sequence. For example, I no longer have to change the baby (laughs).
At the beginning of the 12th season, we discover that Valentine and Izzy are secretly back together. How will Clem and Matthew react when they learn the truth?
They will react quite badly, but I do not think it will be legitimate, because Valentin and Izia were together before them. If two people are to be offended, it’s to be Valentine and Izia. But fortunately, they handle the situation well with their parents.
From an academic point of view, Valentin begins his studies after his bachelor’s degree and finds himself in the seat of Iris Khan, a teacher, more than a teacher with problematic intentions. What was it like working with Helena Noguera?
It went really well. He is an extraordinary actor who has a lot of talent. I learned a lot while playing with him. He was fully involved in his role from the beginning, so I think that helped me.
Iris tries to seduce Valentine and force her to have sex with him, but Valentine pushes him away. How will the situation develop? Will Iris seek revenge and force Valentine to pay for this refusal?
Iris will try to manipulate Valentine. And this will obviously lead to its destabilization. Especially since he mistakenly managed to send a photo to the teacher. It will all go quite far. But I think he’s just not trying to make him pay for what happened, or rather, what didn’t happen. He also sees Valentine’s artistic potential and is somehow jealous. He will try to steal his art.
In the following episodes, Valentine is convinced that he will gain a little justice, because everything has a big impact on him. He wants to get out of this difficult situation and return to normal life as an 18-year-old teenager. She already has a child, will not have a normal life, so if she has problems with the teacher, it is difficult.
This new decor from Design School allows you to play with new partners this season. Especially well known is Alice Varela, to whom Tomorrow fans belong. Did it immediately coincide between you?
Yes, it went very well with Alice. Also, a month ago I was in the United States and saw it there. But he was also excellent with everyone else and especially with Aisa Benchelef, who plays Mehdi. We had a good deal and I felt good.
We used to be a bit alone with Lily Nambininso, who plays Izia. We were the only young people. And the fact that Alice and Aisa are here makes me feel good. It brings novelty and gives us new items to play with. Even for the public, I think it is positive. It brings new characters that people can identify with, especially young audiences.
Clemes’ 12th season is also marked by the return of Jerome, now played by François-David Cardonelli. How does Valentine experience this sudden return?
Glad he found it, but I think it makes him very weird. Especially with his little sister. But what matters to her is Emma’s happiness, and she notices that Jerome’s presence is important to her. So Valentine wants it to work.
At the same time, it’s difficult because Jerome is trying to establish himself in the family as he should. So Valentine is at a somewhat strange interval. And for Clem it will be hard, but Valentine will be with her mother as usual. Even if he is already quite upset about everything that is happening with the gas Khan.

Have you also had such a big brother and sister relationship in real life with Elina Solomon playing Emma?
Of course, this was evident from our first season, or the ninth season. It has grown today, it is no longer so (laughs). But at first in real life she looked like my little sister. It was little Elina, she was very lovely. And we’ve made a pretty strong connection.
Are you already in the 13th season of Clem, if the channel will renew the series?
It all depends on what game I am offered. If you liked the script, of course. I trust Fabrice Renault, our producer and screenwriter. I’m sure they will come up with a nice conspiracy that I will like. Anyway, the 12th season was not the last, and in the world of Clem we can always come up with new stories. I hope that one day, when the series ends, we will offer the public a real good ending.
This is a calendar match, but you are currently in the subtitles for another series, Parallèles on Disney +. Was it a childhood dream to play in a science fiction TV series or movie?
Even completely. But Disney is also a big dream. Since I shot this series, I see Disney writing 15 times a day everywhere, on my phone or on posters. Doing something. And I’ve always been a science fiction fanatic, growing up with all these movies that make us dream, so I’m glad I had that opportunity.

And the series proves that we can make a beautiful SF in France, with tools that are not necessarily the same as American products …
That’s the wonder of the parallels, we have not done a series like Stranger Things or Dark. We did it with our resources, with what we know to do in France and at the same time this series does not give a cheap effect at all. We believe this is very convincing.
This is largely thanks to Quoc Dang Tran, the creator of Parallels, who made sure that we really care about the characters, beyond the explosions, about time travel. Sure, there are special effects and they’re good, but I love how you get into the characters ’heads. Especially since they are interesting and have all the passionate relationships that connect them to each other.
Do you know if a second season is possible?
ᲕI wish. But I have no information yet. I think it mostly depends on the 1 season ratings. For the time being, there is no firm ‘no’, it is possible and I am sure the authors have ideas for every occasion. And at the same time, the story is quite closed at the end of six episodes. But I’ll be happy to be back for a second season.
