Men’s Goalball Beats USA, Advances to Paralympics

Another victory for the men’s goalball team at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. This Friday (30), the Brazilian team beat the United States in the second round of the group stage by 13 to 8. With this triumph, Brazil secured the knockout stage with one round to spare.

The first half was quite open between the teams. The defenses were down, while the attacks were quite efficient. In the half, 13 goals were scored. Brazil remains at the top of the standings, but the North Americans do not let the margin exceed the gap: 7 to 6.

Things went differently after the break. Although the United States was looking for a 7-7 tie from the start, the Brazilians put together a sequence of three goals in about 3 minutes and took an 11-7 lead. The score did not change until the final minutes, when Parazinho scored 12-7 and left the victory well underway at 13-8.
