According to Climatempo, temperatures will drop only in the second half of the month, after a long sequence of hot and dry days.
The coats have just returned to the closet, but there is already a date to take them out: the first strong cold front of September It’s already on meteorologists’ radar.
According to Climatempo, the next cold wave should advance across the country starting from September 19. The date is close to the beginning of spring (September 22).
“A hot air mass is already covering Brazil and will strengthen significantly in this first week of September, gaining even more intensity and expanding southward in the second week of September with atypically high temperatures and intense heat even in the southernmost areas of the country. A country where very high temperatures are not frequent at this time of year,” says the meteorological company.
Air humidity can reach emergency levels – below 12% in many areas of southern Mato Grosso, inland São Paulo, Triângulo Mineiro, northeastern Mato Grosso do Sul and southern Goiás.
On September 7, for example, more than half of the state of São Paulo will have temperatures 5°C above the historical average. Virtually all over the country, thermometers should indicate temperatures 1°C to 5°C above normal.
“This new heat wave is related to normal weather conditions. It is not unusual for it to happen in this period,” said meteorologist Luiz Felippe Gozzo, of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), in interview last saturday, 29 to the State.
“Global warming is helping to make these phenomena more frequent. This year there have already been some heat waves during the summer and this repetition is linked to climate change,” he continues. “But we cannot say this based on a single case, this case in September, because there are other factors that contribute to making this happen.”
