Cinema Quiz: Ready for Ch’ti 10/10?

If 2024 is indeed the year for French cinema, the year of Artus’ Un p’tit truc en plus, which just passed the 10 million mark in cinemas, just as 2011 was for the Toledano/Nakache duo’s Intouchables. 2008 will forever be marked by the phenomenon of Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis by and with Danny Boone.

The film has received over 20 million to date, an absolute record for a French film, second only to The Sunken Titanic. Kad Merad’s (not) choice

Cad Meradi was not Danny Boone’s original choice for the title role at all. It was one of the film’s co-producers, Richard Pezet of the Pathé Group, who suggested the director Cad Merad’s name, and several actors had previously turned down the offer due to choice or scheduling constraints, including José García, Daniel Otte, Jean. Dujardin and even Jean-Paul Rouve.

Director, second!

Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis was “only” the second production of Danny Boone, who was then better known as an actor, two years after La Maison du Bonheur, which also achieved some success as the film still attracted more than a million viewers.

Extraordinary support

To promote the film, a special “Ch’ti” news channel was created: ChtiNN, aptly called “the channel that does not lose the north”.
