Just three years after the last opus, The World Next, Universal studios offers a new reboot of the iconic Jurassic Park franchise. Directed by Gareth Edwards, director of Godzilla, Rogue One and The Creator, this project is brought to life by a completely different cast led by Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bale and double Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.
Currently, the filming of the movie has been shrouded in secrecy until last week with the release of the first two official photos, a new logo and the title Jurassic World: Rebirth online. If a plot line is revealed, Variety offers a more detailed synopsis.
“The Secret Hidden From Mankind”
Here it is:
“Five years after the events of Jurassic World, the ecology of the planet has become hostile to dinosaurs. Those that survived are now in an isolated equatorial environment with a climate similar to what they experienced.
Three of the most colossal creatures in this tropical biosphere hold the key to a medicine that will bring miraculous benefits to mankind. Covert ops expert Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) tries to recover genetic material from dinosaurs, but finds herself stuck with a civilian family on an island that has been keeping a secret hidden from humanity for decades.“
It is expected that none of the old characters from the old Jurassic World trilogy will return in this new chapter.

Along with Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali plays her partner, Duncan Kincaid; Jonathan Bailey plays a paleontologist named Dr. Henry Loomis, and Rupert Friend ( Homeland ) plays Martin Krebs, a pharmaceutical industry executive who finances the expedition.
If we can question the usefulness of a new reboot of the franchise, this Jurassic World: Rebirth piques the curiosity of fans for two reasons. The former relies on director Gareth Edwards, a subject matter expert when it comes to capturing monsters on film.
The second reason concerns the screenwriter, David Cope. The author signed the first two parts of Jurassic Park directed by Steven Spielberg. The latter is still considered an associate producer.
Jurassic World: Rebirth hits theaters July 2, 2025.
