Yeltsin Jacques sets world record and is two-time 1,500m champion

Eltsin Jacques is a two-time Paralympic champion in the 1,500 meters T11 (visual impairment)! Dominant on this distance, the Brazilian runner repeats the feat of Tokyo-2020 in Paris-2024. In addition, he recorded a new world record, surpassing the one he already had when he won the gold medal in the Japanese capital. Brazil filled another place on the podium with Júlio Agripino who won the bronze.




The two-time Paralympic champion of the event finished the race in 3 minutes 55 seconds 82, reducing by more than two seconds the time obtained in his first gold medal in the 1,500 meters T11 (visual impairment). The title in Tokyo-2020 was confirmed with a time of 3min57s60. The 32-year-old athlete from Mato Grosso do Sul confirmed his favoritism and won his fourth medal at the Paralympic Games in Paris-2024.

Júlio Agripino, who came in first, crossed the finish line of the 1,500 meters T11 (visually impaired) in third place in 4min04s03. The Brazilian duo, who dominated this distance, overturned the result of the final of the 5,000 meters T11, when Júlio Agripino won the gold medal with a world record and Eltsin Jacques finished with the bronze. The runner-up at the Paris 2024 Paralympics was Yitayal Yigzaw, from Ethiopia, who completed the course in 4min03s21
