It all starts here: “I feel like I never left”… Nicolas Anselmo confides in his big comeback

Here’s where it all kicks off to celebrate the 1,000th episode, what better way than to bring back Greg (Mikael Mittelstadt) and Elliot to please early fans?

Meeting on the set of the series in this very symbolic scene, Nicolas Anselmo talked about the evolution of his character and his feelings, even though he returns after a year’s absence. Confidence!

AlloCiné: What keeps us coming back?

Nicholas Anselmo: Elliot returns as Chef to oversee the competition for a new class! For me, Nicolas, it’s very interesting to come back because I’m doing something completely different. It is very interesting to play a chef and not a student.

What is Elliot like as a chef?

He now has the status of a leader, and I wanted to bring back something quite light, not funny, because the text is not necessarily funny, but something less authoritarian. I don’t think it really suits the character!

And how does it feel to come back as a chef and not as a student? Was he responsible for all this?

In the story of the character I envisioned, Elliot matured, so it was interesting to play in a different way. Then there’s always the directing and production direction. But I tried to regain maturity in any case.

What’s it like being in the 1,000th episode for those of you who were there from the beginning?

Right now, in the sequence when they put out the board and said 1000.1, I said to Maya, the actress who plays Zoe, “And I was there at 1.7” ! It looks amazing even when I see past photos, I tell myself “Oh, 984 episodes” Everything that happened after that.

Back to your usual habits?

Yes, I said it, it feels like I never left! Well, yes, but it’s true, I immediately returned to the road, I already know the faces, these are the mechanisms that I also know! It really is a habit. I arrived as if it was yesterday.

When he asked you back, did you immediately say yes?

They wrote to me at the end of January and I couldn’t make it at first because I was on another dance project this summer. And I had to change all my plans to be there. I said I would make it for just a few days. I was able to find a replacement.

Do you think Elliott has reached the end of the cycle?

I can’t comment on that because I didn’t create or write the character. To be honest, there’s always a lot to say and do, but I think if it happens, it’s fate, and yes, I think it’s perfect!

did you miss me

No, because that’s my nature. These are the people I love so much, I don’t miss them when I’m apart from them, I don’t feel a lack, but when I find them again, I say “damn, I missed them” and here it was the same, it wasn’t a lack, but I was very happy to be back and Especially seeing everyone again, technicians and actors, and especially meeting new ones.

Is she still in love with Greg?

Oh yes! Then, it is true, we cannot sequence the arguments in such a short time. But if she’s still there (she shows him her wedding ring, an editor’s note), it’s because things are going well.

What happened after that?

He works hard because he has his own traveling restaurant that does a good job at the Beaumont Hotel.

Didn’t you get the impression that at any point Elliott had the upper hand over you?

Not because the character is still very far from me, and we’re not on a super deep composite role where you really have to work on a specific theme. It’s still pretty much an everyday thing where you can kick back a bit and chill, so no, I’ll never get lost in Elliott.

Did you have scenes with Ekaterine (Davidzenka)?

Yes, and especially with him, when we played together again, we immediately found things. It’s super fluid, super easy, and it happened very naturally. That’s when I said to myself “yes, I was there yesterday”.

And did the community you meet on the street stay with you after you left the series?

Yes, much less then! I’m less recognized, I think it’s the moustache/hair aspect that plays a part, but there are still people who really recognize me instantly. They always tell me it’s my eyes.
