Shaim and Lucy Lucas reunite with Star of Battlestar Galactica in a Cannes-based detective series

There are not only series screenings in Cannes, there are also movie shoots! This is the news of the day on Croisette, very soon the TV series Cannes Confidential will be filmed in the city. And she will have the lead actress Tamara Marte, nicknamed Shy’m (profiling), Lucy Lucas (Clem) and Jamie Bumber (Battlestar Galactica).

The trio at the CANNESERIES festival took advantage of the celebration and announced this long-awaited project, which was suspended due to a health crisis. Tamara Martha and Jamie Bamber, who met on this occasion, provided us with information about this large-scale project, which was filmed in English and then dubbed into French by the actors themselves.

Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s Amicalement votre, La La Land or La main au collet, Cannes Confidential will investigate two police officers, Leah (Tamara Marte) and Camille (Lucy Lucas). The duo are constantly bothered by a mysterious and funny criminal named Harry, who turns out to be a valuable help to young women in their investigation. But it will also have a deeper dynamic with them and their personal lives.

The first person to contact and who contacted Patrick Nebut, Dramacorp’s producer and CEO, for this series was Jamie Bamber, who speaks excellent French and whose mother lives close to Cannes. He was able to read the script two years ago and was directly seduced by his character Harry, a kind of mysterious gentleman thief, as he told us in an interview:

“Unlike the slightly different characters I just played. He’s charming and carefree, even on the criminal side. And he has a very strong sense of humor, quite painful. And that ‘s also part of the secret. It attracted me.”

For her part, Tamara Marte learned about the project a year ago and got to take the James tests. What excited the actor is the ambition and modernity of the project: Jamie’s character, random, always out of nowhere, who brings this hilarious dimension to police investigations, is a rather rare bias in French detective series. “There was also a real promise for the series, which was different from what I could get here, for the realization and the script, which comes from the established codes.”

Camille Demara was chosen for the staging due to her experience in film and action series. He directed the episodes of the TV series The Transporter and the movie The Transporter: The Legacy, he was also the editor of Taken 2, by the way. For Cannes Confidential there will be a good dose of action promised by Tamara Marte, who underwent a shocking workout:

“Lucy and I play two policewomen. We had physical, defense and combat training. We had different training because Lucy is really more technical and I will be less of an academic cop, more comfortable in the field. It was quite new. For me, but very “It’s fun and impressive for the backstage realization of the work, the choreography and the sacred action scenes.”

The series will have a specific investigation per episode, but will also have an entire narrative red thread of six episodes that will really connect Harry’s young women, especially Camille (Lucy Lucas), as Jamie Bamber explained: “There is a big story about Camille and her father, who was a police chief in Cannes but is now in jail because he was arrested for corruption. So he is looking for the truth and Harry will be of great help.”

Even if La Croisette will be one of the main places in the series, the idea is also to emphasize the charm and less Bling Bling By skin, Jamie Bamber: “It’s part of the community, the hidden aspect of this very, very famous city. It’s a bit of a metaphor for Harry’s character, what he shows for himself and what he hides. There we show the brilliant side of the skin.

Filming for Cannes Confidential in Cannes will begin in three weeks and last for three months until the end of July. Six episodes are planned for the first season, the broadcaster of which is not yet known. But the scale of the series should also be seen in its export platforms.
