Starting May 17, M6 offers a new season 5 of 9-1-1 every Tuesday night, which continues to stage interventions, each one crazier than the other. But as all good things come to an end, this fifth batch of shows ends (already) tonight with the final two episodes.
At the end of the season, which was particularly notable for the temporary absence of Jennifer Love Hewitt, the significant career change of Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and the departure of Rockmond Dunbar (Michael), who was let go by the production of the series. 9-1-1 is taking a well-deserved vacation. But not without offering an end-of-season apotheosis that shouldn’t be missed.
Indeed, after Claudette’s death in a call center fire, Hen (Aisha Hinds), Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Bucky (Oliver Stark) and Bobby (Peter Krause) begin to make connections to Jonah’s actions. (Bryce Durfee), a new recruit at Barracks 118 and risks his life to stop a Lifeguard who has turned and started sowing death due to his hero complex.
At the same time, Eddie travels to Texas to reconcile with his father, a wedding is celebrated, and certain characters make new career choices. Although the 9-1-1 couple ends their relationship in these final two episodes, which are rich with twists.
If 9-1-1 Season 5 doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, don’t get discouraged, it doesn’t mean the show is over. On the contrary! American channel Fox, which airs the series across the Atlantic, did indeed renew 9-1-1 for a 6th season last May.
With an average of 8.2 million viewers in the United States, the firefighter series created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) remains one of the biggest hits on American television. which ranked second in audience this year behind This Is Us in targeting 18-49 year olds across all channels combined.
Filming for Season 6 began yesterday, Monday, July 11, in Los Angeles and is expected to continue through March. Before the broadcast begins, it’s back across the Atlantic with the season premiere of “Let the Games Begin” on September 19 on Fox.
Story-wise, no information about these sixth episodes has been revealed yet. And it’s unclear if Arielle Cable, who joined 9-1-1 in Season 5 as Lucy, will return. The case will follow.
In France, the series is not due to return to the M6 antenna until 2023.
