Closing out Brazil’s participation in athletics events this Saturday afternoon (7), at the Paris Paralympics, at the Stade de France, Thomaz Ruan de Moraes completed the 400m race in the T47 class in 47.97 and won the bronze medal in this sport.
The time set by the Brazilian in the Paralympic final was his best time of the season. Thomaz Ruan easily took third place and crossed the finish line behind only the Moroccans Ayoub Sadni, who clocked 47.16, and Aymane El Haddaoui, with 46.65.
The bronze medal marked the sprinter’s second appearance at the Paralympic Games. The athlete’s first competition was at the Tokyo 2020 edition, when Thomaz stepped onto the podium in the 400 meters T47, winning silver.
After the end of the penultimate day of athletics competitions, with the victory of Thomaz Ruan, Brazil obtained its 86th medal at the Paris Paralympics. So far, the Brazilians have won 23 golds, 25 silvers and 38 bronzes, occupying sixth place in the overall ranking.
Brazilian Paralympic athletics continues to compete for medals on the final day of the competition. In the early hours of Sunday (8), starting at 3:15 (Brasilia time), the country will be represented in the women’s category of the T54 and T12 marathons. In the T54 class Vanessa Cristina and Aline Rocha are looking for the podium. In the T12 class, marathon runner Edneusa Dorta is competing for a medal.
