Swimming was the sport that brought the most prizes to Brazilian athletes. Carol Santiago was the one who earned the most, with 900 thousand reais
Brazilian athletes were responsible for the best performance in the history of the country at the Paralympics. There were 89 podiums, 25 gold, 26 silver and 38 bronze. Each medal earned the athletes a cash prize from the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB): 250,000 reais for the highest podium placement, 100,000 reais for second and 50,000 reais for third.
Swimmer Carol Santiago earned the most at Paris 2024. With five medals, two golds and three silvers (one in the 4×100 relay), she won 900 thousand reais. In the same category, in the S2 class, Gabrielzinho was the second highest earner. His three golds earned him R$750,000.
Third place in terms of prize money went to Jerusa Geber, from athletics, who won two golds, in the 100 and 200 meters of the T11 class. With this she will earn 500 thousand reais. Talisson Glock came fourth in terms of prize money and earned 425 thousand reais after winning one gold, one silver and two bronzes (one in the 4x50m relay).
Lead athletes, runners, pilots and coxswains are also awarded. They receive 20% of the value of the highest medal won by the athlete they accompany and 10% of the value of subsequent podiums. The CPB prize values at Paris 2024 are four times higher than those awarded at Rio 2016.
