Amazon Prime Day 2022 drops the price of the best-selling Star Wars LEGO

Fotogramas’ department of galactic whims could not resist telling you about the drop in price of the best-selling LEGO figure on Amazon: none other than Baby Yoda, the Child, our friend Grogu, the one who chose to be a Mandalorian rather than a Jedi. ; the one who preferred chain mail to the way of the Force; the one that stayed with Din Djarin before Luke Skywalker and his CGI with an expiration date. Two years after its market launch (after Disney missed the opportunity to take advantage of pre-pandemic sales of Baby Yoda figures), the El Niño LEGO figure is in Amazon Prime Day 2022 at its lowest price on the ecommerce platform: 59.83 euros. In two years it had never dropped below 67 euros and for this price it is a guilty but affordable whim. And we’re talking about the best-selling construction toy on Amazon for the past two years, not just the best-selling LEGO Star Wars set on Amazon anymore.

We still remember how the demand for Baby Yoda toys in 2019 was cut short by the Frozen effect: the series was not expected to be such a success, but above all it was not believed that this character was going to become the star series commercial. Then supply problems from the pandemic rounded out the problems. Mattel’s first major launch with Baby Yoda was scheduled in the United States for April 1, 2020. Toys could be reserved, but they didn’t start shipping until February 2020, when we were already on the track of the pandemic. There was a Lego set from The Mandalorian sans Baby Yoda, counted figures from the Star Wars Black Series tied to The Mandalorian (Cara Dune, before the actress who plays her, Gina Carano, fell from grace, and a Jawa, before being seduced by the most perky of the Sedaris family), hastily printed t-shirts with images of the Child, a Funko of the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), another of Cara Dune, another of the IG-11 bounty hunter and even one of Kuiil, the Force have in his glory, and little else.
