“Stranger Things 4” surpasses 1.2 billion hours watched on Netflix

Netflix revealed on Tuesday (5/7) that “Stranger Things 4” has exceeded the limit of 1.2 billion viewing hours worldwide on the platform.

The fourth season of the creation of the Duffer Brothers was the first English-language series to exceed one billion last week and has now reached 1.26 billion hours since its May 27 premiere. The number is practically double the audience of the second most watched series in the category, “Bridgerton 2”, which reached 656.2 million hours.

As for any language, “Stranger Things 4” is just behind “Round 6”, a South Korean phenomenon that generated 1.6 billion hours of streaming.

One detail, however, stands out.

The tally covers the two parts of season 4, which is atypical in the platform’s accounting, which always ends its total after 28 days of airing. Apparently, the science fiction series is an exception to the rule, as it added up the two-volume audience.

In the last week alone, “Stranger Things 4” has amassed 188.1 million hours.

And the most curious thing is that, between July 4th and 10th, Netflix’s worldwide audience decided to simply watch the Duffer brothers’ series. All four seasons produced fill the platform’s Top 5, with “Stranger Things 1” at no. 2, “Stranger Things 2” at no. 4 and “Stranger Things 3” at no. 5.

The outsider amidst this homogeneous preference is “The Umbrella Academy” at number 3 on the world rankings with 43.8 million hours watched last week.
