Netflix has released the poster and first trailer for “Continence to Love”, the national title of the adaptation of Tess Wakefield’s novel “Purple Hearts”.
The preview tells a love story between a girl, played by Sofia Carson (l’Evie from “Descendants”), and a marine played by Nicholas Galitzine (the prince of “Cinderella”), called to fight in a war. The exchange of letters between the two is reminiscent of another such production, “Dear John” (2010), based on a best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks. But the trailer presents a twist: the couple’s romance is totally untrue.
The two marry out of interest – she, for example, in exchange for a Navy health plan, which gives her access to the medicines she needs to survive – but a tragedy ends up, which makes Carson’s character understand that be involved in a robbery.
The production is also a musical, as the female lead is a singer. Speaking of which, the trailer highlights a song from Carson’s sung soundtrack, “Come Back Home,” which is now available on music platforms.
The screenplay was written by the duo Liz W. Garcia (creator of “The Rhythm of Memphis”) and Kyle Jarrow (creator of “Valor”), and is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (“Sneakers Enchanted”).
“Continuity to Love” arrives on Netflix on July 29th.
