Shang-Chi Director in Talks to Helm Spider-Man 4

After driving Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings(2021), Destin Daniel Cretton can command Spider-Man 4new chapter of the franchise starring Tom Holland. According to information from The Hollywood Reporterthe filmmaker would be in negotiations to replace Jon Wattswho directed the previous films but will not return for the fourth film.

At the moment, Cretton is working on two Marvel Cinematic Universe projects: the sequel to Shang-Chiand the series Wonder Manboth with no release date yet. Previously, the director had been scheduled to direct Avengers: Kang Dynastythe fifth meeting of the group of heroes in theaters, but the film ended up being reformulated and the Russo Brothers took over the role.

Tom Holland has already confirmed that he will return to live Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the new film in the franchise and revealed that, in addition to starring, he is also collaborating with the production of the fourth chapter of the web-slinger’s story:

“This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creation so early. It’s just a process where I’m observing and learning. It’s a really fun time for me.”declared [via NME]. “Everybody wants that to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”

ToneHolland lived the Spider-Man in three films of the hero: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). In addition, the actor was also in Captain America: Civil War (2016) — which marked his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe —, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
