Deadline and Variety are reporting that Fifty Shades of Gray and Becoming John Lennon director Sam Taylor-Johnson will direct a biopic about the life and work of British singer Amy Winehouse. The script will be written by playwright Matt Greenhalgh and produced by Studiocanal.
Titled “Back to Black” in honor of one of the singer’s biggest hits, the film tells the story of the North London aspiring jazz artist’s rise to the status of a British stage legend and her tragic death at the age of 27 in July 2012.

Project producers Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Tracey Seaward will soon start searching for an actress to play the lead role.
Note that similar pictures about Amy Winehouse have not yet come out. In 2015, a documentary called “Amy” was released, which was well received by critics, but the singer’s father, Mitch Winehouse, did not like it at all. This is because in the film he was shown not to be the most pleasant person. Now the man allegedly gave his unofficial consent to the creation of the film, possibly by making a deal with the director.
