‘Rest in Peace, Dad’: Mark Hamill and George Lucas Pay Tribute to James Earl Jones, Star Wars’ Darth Vader

A holy Hollywood monster known for his impressive and deep voice, James Earl Jones has just passed away at the age of 93. In a very long career that spanned more than sixty years, he played almost 190 roles on both small and big screens, not to forget that he was also a true titan of the theater.

Many tributes salute the memory of the man who was the unforgettable voice of Darth Vader and Mufasa in The Lion King, among other famous artistic contributions passed down to posterity. And among them, naturally, Mark Hamill and George Lucas.

“Rest Dad” Mark Hamill wrote on his X account; An obvious reference to one of the most famous stories in the history of cinema.

She then posted a photo with James Earl Jones on his Instagram accountwas called “One of the greatest actors in the world, whose contribution to Star Wars is immeasurable.”

The press release welcomes the father of the Star Wars saga “An incredible actor, a unique voice in both art and soul. For almost half a century he was Darth Vader, but the secret of it all was that he was a wonderful person. He brought depth, sincerity and meaning to everyone. His roles, the most important of which were his late husband’s sister Flynn’s role as a father will be missed by many of us friends.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy also paid tribute to the deceased actor. “James Earl Jones is one of the most versatile and talented actors of our time, with works in film, stage and television. The menacing baritone voice he gave to Darth Vader will never be admired and considered one of the greatest villain performances in cinema, his commanding I really miss being on screen and having a warm personality off screen.”

The actor was even given a beautiful tribute on the facade of the Empire State Building.

Crystal Minkoff, wife of Rob Minkoff, director the lion kingwrote on Instagram next to a photo of Jones holding a statue of Mufasa: “Rest in peace, Mr. John. You made a young singer’s dream come true by landing the role of Mufasa. Thank you for everything you did for Robbie. Your memory will live on.”

“forever and ever” wrote As for Barry Jenkins, who directed Mufasa: The Lion King, a film due out in December that traces the origins of the feline monarch and his rival Scar.
