The Brazilian defender has been without a club since he terminated his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk and Influenza (loan)
Los Angeles Galaxy-USA announced, on the afternoon of this Wednesday (11), the purchase of defender Marlon, who was free on the market. The Brazilian’s last club was Fluminense, where he was on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk-UCR.
According to the North Americans themselves, the defender has signed a contract until June 2025. He will occupy one of the foreign spots in the team, which has famous players such as Uruguayan defender Martín Cáceres, Spanish midfielder Riqui Puig, German striker Marco Reus, as well as Brazilian winger Gabriel Pec, the team’s top scorer this season (13 goals).
Marlon left Fluminense in June, when his loan deal expired. At the same time, the player’s ties with his home club, Shakhtar, also ended. He was therefore free on the market.
In July, he approached Al-Ain (UAE), but failed the medical tests. Therefore, he reached an agreement to play in Major League Soccer (MLS), signing with LA Galaxy for one season.
The defender began his career at Fluminense, making his professional debut at the age of 18 in 2014. He moved permanently to Barcelona in 2017. He was then loaned to Nice-FRA. The following year he signed with Sassuolo-ITA.
After three seasons in Italian football, he moved to Shakhtar, where he played just 20 games. He continued on loan to Monza-ITA and then to Fluminense, in 2023.
