In June 2023, after the great success of Alibi.com 2 in cinemas (4.2 million attendances), Philippe Lachaux announced that he was going to direct Le Marsupilami. A new adaptation of André Franckin’s work, 11 years after Alain Chabat’s version, which attracted 5.3 million viewers, the film is directed by Philippe Lachaux and co-written by Lachaux, Pierre Dudan, Julien Arout and Pierre Lachaux.

Alban Ivanov, Corentin Guillot and Jean Reno are also part of the adventure. Philippe Lachaux also shared the first photo of the French icon on the set of Marsupilami. We see Jean Reno in profile in the dark wearing a hat. While we still don’t know anything about his role, the look – reminiscent of Indiana Jones – suggests that Jean Reno will play the adventurer.

And Marsupillam?
While promoting Tarek Budal’s action film 3 Jours Max, we asked Philippe Lashaw about his marsupial. The latter explained to our microphone that the yellow creature with black spots, gifted with superhuman strength, with a size of about 1 meter and a long tail of up to 8 meters, will not be in synthetic images in his feature film.
Philippe Lachaux remains cryptic, but tells us: “It won’t be an actor, but if all goes well, there won’t be too much CGI either.”. So the animal should be a realistic and animated doll.
When will Marsupillam be released?
After shooting in Thailand this summer, the Fife gang resumed shooting Marsupillam in France in early September. Director Philippe Lachaux’s seventh feature is set to hit our theaters on February 4, 2026, three years from now. Alibi.com 2.
