Based on a novel by Jo Nesbo, the noir thriller is set in Greece and debuts September 26 on Prime Video
Prime Video has released the first trailer for “Killer Heat,” a new noir-inspired thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Beverly Cop: Axel Foley”) and Shailene Woodley (“Big Little Lies”).
Filmed on the Greek island of Crete, the film follows private detective Nick Bali (Gordon-Levitt), who is hired by Zoe (Shailene Woodley), wife of Elias Vardakis (Richard Madden, of “The Eternals”), to investigate the mysterious death of her husband’s twin brother, Leo Vardakis, under suspicious circumstances. Although the death is initially ruled an accident, Zoe suspects a conspiracy involving the influential Vardakis family and fears the truth is being covered up by the local police. The plot takes on a darker tone as the detective delves deeper into his investigation, uncovering secrets and grappling with the powerful family’s control over the island, as well as dealing with his own personal dilemmas.
“Deadly Heat” marks a reunion for Gordon-Levitt and Woodley after the biopic “Snowden” (2016). The plot is based on the novel “The Jealous Man” by Jo Nesbo (“Headhunters”), and is directed by Philippe Lacôte, an Ivorian filmmaker who makes his English-language debut after impressing with “Twelfth Night” (2020), nominated for Best International Film at the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
The premiere is scheduled for September 26.
