Karue Sell Beats Home Promise, Reaches Semifinals in Las Vegas

The dream is still alive! On the sixth day of the Las Vegas Challenger, in the United States, the Brazilian Karue Sell overcame a young American promise and advanced to the semifinals of the singles round. He, who is looking for his first career Challenger title, awaits the definition of his next opponent in the tournament.




In a match that lasted just over an hour, Karue defeated Kaylan Bigun, just 18, with a score of 2-0 (6/2 and 6/3). In total, the 30-year-old from Catarina finished with six breaks of serve, compared to two for his rival. Kaylan is currently second in the world junior rankings and was present in the qualifying draw for the US Open.

In the semifinals in Las Vegas, Karue Sell will face the American Tristan Boyer, the number six seed in the competition. Ranked 193rd in the ATP ranking, the 23-year-old tennis player competed on the Stanford University college circuit and has one title this season: the Yucatán Challenger, in Mexico. The clash against the Brazilian will take place this Saturday (14), without a precise date yet.

Furthermore, with the result already achieved in the North American Championship, Karue jumps to the 300th position in the singles ranking. This is the first time that the Brazilian has reached the top 300 in the world in his career. This year he has won two M25 level tournaments: in Ithaca-USA, on hard court, and in Londrina-PR, on clay.
