The actress stars in the film alongside Demi Moore
Margaret Qualley had a hard time filming The Substance.
In the film directed by Coralie Fargeat, Demi Moore plays Elisabeth Sparkle, a former celebrity who is past her prime and is suddenly fired from her television show by the repulsive studio boss, Harvey (Dennis Quaid).
She is then drawn to the opportunity presented by a mysterious new drug: THE SUBSTANCE. One injection and she is reborn — temporarily — as the stunning Sue, a young woman in her early twenties (Margaret Qualley).

The only rule? Time must be divided: exactly one week in one body, then one week in the other. No exceptions. A perfect balance. What could possibly go wrong?
In a certain scene, the character of Qualley leads a gymnastics class with sensual movements. However, “this specific type of sexuality doesn’t suit her well,” the actress said in an interview with The Times.
After the first dance rehearsal, Qualley She said she cried in the bathroom and decided to learn the choreography on her own. “I was deeply embarrassed,” she explained.
“Still, on the day of the shoot, the first thing I did in the morning was get drunk, because I was like, ‘I can’t do this in front of everyone,'” she continued, revealing that tequila and marijuana helped her shoot the scene in question.
