Affected games include Final Fantasy XVI and Star Wars Outlaws, among others.
Sony is investigating technical issues on PlayStation 5 in Final Fantasy XVI and other games caused by firmware 24.06-10.00.00.
Users inside Reddit are reporting situations where entire portions of the screen in the Square Enix game are being taken up by black squares, as well as crashes when loading a save file, using fast travel, and more.
Similar bugs have also been reported in Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws, Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding, and more.
Sony is aware of the problem, along with Square Enix, and is looking for a solution, at least in Final Fantasy XVI.
“Following the recent release of the PlayStation 5 system update, there have been reports of crashes and graphical issues in the game,” Square Enix stated on social media (via IGN). “We are working with Sony Interactive Entertainment to investigate and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Stay tuned for future updates.”
At the time of this news publication, Sony had not yet publicly commented on this situation.
