Back to the Future: Pause 13 minutes and 41 seconds, even the biggest fans of the saga did not notice this detail

Almost 40 years ago, long before the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the numerous feature films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the numerous works of the Pixar studios began to imbue their scenes with small hidden details, back in the future there were already Easter Eggs well underway.

Indeed, since 1985, Robert Zemeckis’ famous Timeline trilogy has been full of winks and references intended for the many viewers who took their time with each frame of Marty’s adventures.

A movie full of easter eggs

A reference to the 1920s classic from the film’s opening sequence, a cameo from Huey Lewis (singer the power of love) in March’s High School or the colorful allusion to the time machine in the DeLorean… there is no shortage of examples of this type, and most of them are well known to fans of the trilogy.

But there’s one that few viewers—not even those who’ve gone back to the future dozens of times—have noticed. In order to be able to observe it, in the first part of the saga you will have to draw the remote control twice:

From Miller Lite to Miller High Life

  • First, at 13 minutes and 41 seconds, when Biff Tannen, after abundantly torturing George McFly, helps the latter with a can of beer in the refrigerator. Even if Biff talks about “lemonade” in the French version of the movie, and even if it’s a little hard to see on screen, it’s really a can of Miller Lite, a real American blonde brand.
  • And the second time at 1 hour, 50 minutes and 58 seconds, or in the final sequence of the film, when Doc searches for the McFly family’s trash to fill the tank of his flying DeLorean. As we see, the scientist discovers a can of… Miller High Life (“beer champagne” as indicated in the small sentence below).

George changed his life and beer

What you need to understand is that after March’s time travel in 1955 and his intervention, which allowed his father to possess Biff in the Mermaid Dancing Fairy, George McFly’s life changed completely. Now a financially well-off successful author, he logically moved from a major beer brand to a much more prestigious one.
