Netflix has released the trailer for the second season of “Rebel”, which presents a good reason why the characters are rebelling.

The preview shows the arrival of a new musical director at the Elite Way School, who decides to change everything. Instead of bands, he starts encouraging individual careers. The groups are divided so that the students fight for stardom, putting the friendship of the protagonists on the line.

To make up for bad school weather and tumultuous rehearsals, there’s plenty of romance and kissing. But also a murder, demonstrating the influence of “Elite” in the reboot of the old Latin soap opera.

The series updates the universe of the 2004 Mexican production of the same name with Brazilian Giovanna Grigio (“As Five”), Argentine Franco Masini (“Riviera”), Colombian Jeronimo Cantillo (“Hidden Truth”) and several young stars Mexican like singer Sergio Mayer Mori, Azul Guaita (“Get on My Moto”), Alejandro Puente (“El Club”), Andrea Chaparro (“It wasn’t my fault: Mexico”) and Lizeth Selene (“APPortados”) – who, in addition to acting, also sing original songs and reinterpretations of “classics” by the RBD group.

New in the second season include Flavio Medina (“Narcos: Mexico”) as director and two new students: singer Alaide and young composer Saak, musical partner of Danna Paola (of “Elite”), who debut as actors.

The first is scheduled for July 27th.
