Model and actress, Luana Cavalcante will participate in Miss Universe in Mexico in November

Miss Universe Brazil took place on Thursday night (19), at the Gamaro Theater, in the Mooca neighborhood, in São Paulo. The winner of the competition was the representative of Pernambuco, the model Luana Cavalcante, 25 years old.

She is the first mother to win the country’s most important beauty pageant. The event management now also allows married, divorced, mothers and transsexual women to register. Previously, the regulation required the candidate to be single and without children.

Luana became pregnant at the age of 19, while working in Italy. Her son, Pedro, was born there.

“She is the smartest and sweetest little girl I have ever met and dreams of becoming a model (like her mother) and a scientist. Being your mother is one of the greatest joys the universe has ever given me and I fight every day so that your dreams are lived in a more human, aware and safe world,” she posted on a social network.

Luana immediately begins to prepare for Miss Universe, scheduled for November 16 in Mexico City. Brazil has won the pageant only twice: in 1963, with Ieda Maria Vargas from Rio Grande do Sul; five years later, Martha Vasconcellos from Bahia triumphed.

The last best place for a Brazilian was the 2nd place of Julia Gama, from Rio Grande do Sul, in the 2020 edition, held late due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The current owner of the crown is Sheynnis Palacios, from Nicaragua, who participated in the Miss Brazil 2024 elections in the capital of São Paulo.
