Gilles and Afida, a passionate couple?
After 4 seasons of celibacy, Gilles is finally ready to live his great love story. A surprising relationship that results from this season’s theme: The Return of Morgan’s Karma. “We wanted to see Gilles in something else” explained Alisa Chegarai-Brunot, Director of Collections at HPI.
“The friendship between Gilles and Morgan grew from season to season. But in these episodes, Morgan has to face Karma’s return. So we wanted him to not have his usual allies and for other characters to have other problems besides him. So we wanted Gilles to have other fish to fry and Morgan to help him. Also, it covers it once, when it’s usually the other way around.”
“With this 4th season we wanted to refresh ourselves– added Julien Anskater, screenwriter. “We wanted him to experience something he hadn’t experienced before. And it is true that Gilles is something new in a romantic relationship. It creates new situations.“
“It’s an intense relationship”…
And the least we can say is that very quickly, the relationship between Gilles and Afida deepens. “This is an intense relationship and it will become even more intense in the future.Julien Anskater told us. “Afida turns out to be extremely jealous and does not look favorably on Gilles and Daphne’s friendship. Their friendship will also be questioned“
“The relationship itself amused us a lot“- added Alisa Chegari-Braino. “So we wanted to keep going because Myra Tilian is great. It made us want to write for him. He inspired me.”
This relationship is also a plot device for the authors. Morgan literally spends most of the season outside of the police station. And this love story allows us to live the open space and see the characters in other situations.
“Gilles also has the ability to completely deceive people without embarrassment, such as Morgan. His relationship with Afida is almost an extension of this relationship.
