We have been waiting for a sequel to Squid Game for three years now. Released on Netflix in the fall of 2021, the Korean series has achieved unprecedented success, becoming the platform’s biggest hit of all time in a matter of months. A sequel was then ordered, although the program was originally conceived as a one-season miniseries.
Squid Game contains a series of children’s games organized on a large scale. 456 participants have been chosen to try for 45.6 million won (about 450 million euros). But to win the game you will have to survive the tests and traps devised by the organizers of this unhealthy competition.
New villain revealed in season 2?
At the end of the unbearable suspense, the first season ended with the victory of Seong-hoon (Lee Jung-jae). While he was preparing to start a new life in the United States thanks to the money he won, the latter ultimately decided to stay in South Korea to take revenge on the Squid Game organizers.
Therefore, Season 2 should pick up where we left off. A new teaser released by Netflix allows us to discover the circumstances under which Seong Gi-hoon will return to the underworld of Squid Game against his will. These images also confirm the presence of the previous man (Lee Byun-hoon), but also a new villain dressed in black.
Let me remind you that the third season has already been filmed and will be broadcast on Netflix next year. This season 3 is announced as the last, but it is possible that spin-offs will expand the Squid Game universe.
Season 2 of Squid Game premieres December 26th exclusively on Netflix.
