It’s one of the most anticipated series of the fall and it’s finally coming to the MAX platform. Fans of Batman and the DC Comics universe will be treated to a Batman spin-off directed by Matt Reeves.
The Penguin series follows the character of Oswald Cobb, aka The Penguin, played by Colin Farrell in the Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz feature film, which hits theaters in 2022.
Should You Have Seen ‘Batman’ Before Discovering ‘The Penguin’?
Penguin is a TV series derived from Batman, it may be advisable to watch the movie before watching the TV series as the two works are set in the same universe. However, I assure you that it is not necessary or mandatory to have already seen the feature film.
The Penguin series takes place days or weeks after the events of Batman’s End, which are briefly recalled at the beginning of the series. Just know that Gotham City is in turmoil and the place for criminals to rise is huge.
It is in this context that Oz Cobb wants to go from being an outsider in the service of the Falcon mafia family to one of Gotham’s most famous gangsters. Created by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the Penguin series focuses on villains and the underworld of Gotham, so you don’t have to have seen Batman before to understand the issues and characters. But we bet the series will definitely make you want to see or watch a Matt Reeves movie that we can’t wait to see the sequel.
The first episode of the series “Penguin” will be available on the French MAX platform on September 20. The rest of the episodes will be released online every week from September 30.
