Luan Santana Cancels Rock in Rio Show Due to Trap Delay

The singer would have participated in the show “Para Semper Sertanejo”, but a change of program made him opt for a commitment in Santa Catarina

Luan Santana has canceled his participation in Rock in Rio, where he was supposed to perform for the first time this Saturday (21/9), due to the delay of more than an hour in the Palco Mundo performances, caused by the opening of the artists’ trap. The show “Para Semper Sertanejo”, in which Luan was supposed to take part, was originally scheduled for 9:10 p.m., but has been rescheduled for 10:40 p.m.

According to g1, the singer was eager to attend, as he had a performance scheduled for that same evening in São José, Santa Catarina. Luan Santana is in Rio de Janeiro, but his advisor explained to him that due to the new schedule of the Rock in Rio shows, it would be impossible to attend both events.

Substitutions and adjustments in the country show

Rock in Rio organizers have confirmed the cancellation of Luan Santana’s appearance and announced that the rest of the show will continue as planned, with Chitãozinho & Xororó, Ana Castela, Simone Mendes, Júnior and Orquestra Heliópolis. Luan’s songs will be replaced by “surprises” and “improvisations,” according to the event’s press team.

Commitment to punctuality

In a statement, Luan Santana’s advisor clarified that the singer confirmed his presence at the festival only after the organizers assured him that there would be no delays. “It is necessary to emphasize that Luan Santana’s team confirmed the singer’s participation in RiR only months ago, with the organization’s commitment not to delay his presentation,” the statement clarifies.

With the new schedule and the artist’s commitment to Santa Catarina, Luan’s team has decided to cancel his participation. “Given the announced delay, Luan Santana’s team had no choice but to opt for his absence from RiR.”

Luan Santana Should Be The First Country Singer On Rock In Rio

The cancellation contains an irony. Roberto Medina, creator of Rock in Rio, would have decided to include country music in this edition given the success of Luan Santana among the young audience. Last year he even suggested that the singer would be the first country artist to take the stage at Rock in Rio.

Speaking to Billboard Brasil in October 2023, the businessman defended the diversification of Rock in Rio and The Town and explained that the inclusion of Luan Santana in the lineup was a personal goal. “I wanted to invite Luan Santana, I don’t know why we couldn’t. But he will definitely be here [no The Town] or at Rock in Rio Today there is no room for labels. Luan is country music, but it is also pop”, he said.
