After season 6, rich with the death of the florist, the writers of Un si grand soleil are not going to stop there. The France 3 series, which brings together millions of viewers every night, continues to reinvent itself and stay true to its DNA.
As some characters say goodbye, others promise to sow trouble in Montpellier. Between complicated romantic intrigues, unexpected betrayals and family secrets revealed in broad daylight, the screenwriters have not finished playing with our emotions, until our greatest happiness!
But what exactly are in store for us in the coming months?
A few days ago, during the artistic festival of La Rochelle, Olivier Schulzinger, creator and screenwriter of Un si grand soleil, spoke to Allociné about what awaits us in the next episodes of the daily soap opera France 3.
Allocine: This was the year marked by the death of the florist. How do you write an ending for such an iconic character?
Olivier Schulzinger : We had a feeling that we had reached the end of the journey, so we must conclude. It was a bit difficult because the actor was not available. We had to reinvent ourselves and focus a lot on the implications of this revelation. We’re not quite there yet, as there’s a lot of grieving to be done and which will be discussed later for the characters of Cecile (Marie-Gael Kals) and Achille.
Christophe’s death (Hubert Benhamdin) really turned Cecil and Achille’s lives upside down. What’s in store for these two characters in the coming weeks?
Cecil lost faith in her judgment. Will he be able to trust again, trust love again and trust himself? And for Achilles, will he accept that his father was a monster?
Achille is not the only one convinced that Christophe was doing good. Is this something that will develop in future episodes?
This has been discussed for weeks. Indeed, we are not at the end of this story. But life is inevitable and we will tell other stories.
After such an amazing character as the flower girl, do you see the arrival of another antagonist as terrifying or even more terrifying? Can we expect new intrigue surrounding a serial killer or an equally fascinating villain in the coming months?
A serial killer, no, because you have to find other ideas. After that, there are a lot of ambiguous characters in the series, starting with the character of Catherine Laumier (Smadi Wolfman). Lorin (Lea Gillard) too, but in a completely different genre, or Eliot (Stephane Monpet). Finally, on Un si grand soleil we always worked on ambiguous characters. This is the DNA of the series and we will continue. As for Kristoff, the day we decided he was going to slip away, we knew we were going to lose him sooner or later. We always lose these slightly ambiguous and violent characters.
Manuel Blanc, Aissam Medem, Coline Ramos Pinto, Hubert Benhamdin… there have been many departures this year, are there more to come?
If there are so many departures on Un si grand soleil, it’s simply because we have very talented actors who sometimes want to do something else, and that’s completely normal. Sometimes it’s because we’ve reached the end of something. However, we also have feedback. Fred Bianconi, Virgil’s translator, will soon return to the series. Moreover, filming is currently underway. Dimitri’s character will also come and go several times. But really, we have other characters that are going to go.
This year also marked the return of Stéphane Montpete as Eliot. What will happen to this character when he gets out of prison?
It’s a ride that’s going to be a bit incredible. At the same time, we have a character out of prison who wants to rebuild his life, who wants to be admired in the eyes of his partner, and who begins to have doubts about Boris (Jules Balhoul). Like many people who come out of prison, Elliott will have a decline. We must not forget that Elliot had a good education and should have been a veterinarian. But when you get out of prison, many doors close. So we will find him a VTC driver. The question is how he will accept all this, knowing that he will have the impression that it weakens him in the eyes of the woman he loves. That’s all we wanted to say through this character.
Will Elliott stay on the straight and narrow?
That’s the question we asked ourselves, the police asked themselves, and Manu asked himself.
On the police side, Commissioner Becker’s team welcomes a new recruit in the form of Thais. How will its integration go?
Thais (Lila Guiraud) will have to learn what the law is and accept the fact of being a police officer. He will have relations with Manu and Eli. There will also be a confrontation with Thierry. Little by little, he will have to confront all the figures in the police station.
And on the young side, what’s next for Robin, Luis and Thiago?
There will be a lot of intrigue surrounding Flore (Emmanuel Bouaziz) and Thiago, as we will soon learn more about their past. We like to create mystery, set up characters, and resolve a year later. We deliberately leave issues unresolved and respond as late as possible.
On the other hand, Louis (Sylvain Bocara) will become an entrepreneur and try to earn a living. This will be the next plot. As for Robin, he is going to start studying law.
Claire’s Breakup (Melanie Maudran) and Florent (Fabre Deville) surprised many fans. What was your motivation for deciding on this storyline and how will their journey unfold?
These are two actors we really like. There was a reflection to be made that had been with us for a long time. Then we felt like we didn’t have many ideas left for this couple. So it was good to roll the dice back. Claire will have fun things to do while there’s a lot of comedy surrounding Florentine’s character.
As for the Laumier family, will Catherine return and establish herself as Elisabeth’s great rival?
quite ! It’s a war that’s not over, and we’re going to work through this seventh season.
What can we expect from Lauryn and Boris?
We always follow Lorin and Boris, whether it’s their conflicts or their love. There will be many things for them.
Will Lauryn find love?
Lauryn is actually going to meet someone.
Ian (Constantine Balsan) and Johanna (Aurore Delplace) are currently at the center of considerable intrigue regarding the difficulty of conceiving a child. How do you approach this topic?
We wanted the Jan-Johanna couple experience. And it’s true that talking about IVF is ultimately what the daily series provides because it’s a lot of attempts, hopes, and failures. It was interesting because many couples go through this ordeal. Not to mention the writers of the series who have experienced such a journey.
Do you plan to tackle other equally powerful topics in the coming months?
There is also a story in the arch of Ian and Johanna, which we follow through the eyes of the character Ludo. A kind of conflict of use between hunters and farmers in the forest. Then there will be a big arch around anti-abortion people. Earlier, opponents of abortion organized demonstrations near abortion centers. Today it is no longer the case. They have other ways of doing things and we want to tell them.
Where does your inspiration come from to tackle these topics?
We read newspapers and watch TV. We are always looking for important and relevant topics in our community.
In general terms, what will happen in the coming weeks?
As we have changed channels, over time we will find opportunities to program our series. We want to talk about the holidays, the holidays, rediscovering Christmas, etc. This is a welcome change that has been widely requested. We are delighted with the new opportunity that France Télévisions is giving us. It’s going to be a bit busy during this seventh season to find some seasonality.
