26 years ago, the first minutes of this animated film offered us a performance worthy of the greatest Disney

It is December 1998. For almost a decade, the prestigious banner of the famous Disney studio has continuously flown over the kingdom of animation. Three years earlier, newcomers Pixar had made a sensational entrance onto the scene, but a new major competitor was beginning to make itself known.

  • For almost 50 years, the first minutes of this film have kept thousands of viewers speechless.

A new adaptation of Moses

The Dreamworks studio, known worldwide for its successful franchises such as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and Dragons, has already released its first film – the delightful Antz – and is preparing to continue its promising journey.

Adapted from the book, Cecil B. More than 40 years after DeMille’s The 10 Commandments, The Prince of Egypt aims to re-enact the biblical epic of Moses. A colossal challenge that may have initially seemed too ambitious for the frail shoulders of this nascent studio. But after watching the first 6 minutes of the film, any doubts are immediately put to rest.

An intro scene worthy of a beautiful Disney classic

Largely worthy of a 90s Disney musical intro (like Pocahontas or The Hunchback of Notre Dame), carried by a glorious score by a particularly inspired Hans Zimmer (who had already scored The Lion King soundtrack), the sequence. The opening of Prince of Egypt breathes from its first notes and first frames.

To the sound of a heartwarming and luxurious song provide usThus, we witness the plight of the Jewish people, enslaved by the Egyptian pharaohs for centuries, and the birth of new hope in the person of Moses, this Jewish child sent to the waters of the Nile in a woven basket. To escape from the Egyptian soldiers, until the Pharaoh’s wife miraculously collected.

Devoid of dialogue or even the slightest voice-over, served only by music, staging and flawless animation, the introduction to The Prince of Egypt immediately gives the audience the impression of a very good animated film. Hopefully the rest of the feature film will continue to confirm.
