Left back Jorge, formerly of Flamengo, Palmeiras and Fluminense, is no longer part of the CRB squad. Last Tuesday (24), the board of directors of the Alagoas club announced the dismissal of the player, despite having returned to the team in the 2-0 defeat against Sport in Recife, on September 15. He was not used by coach Daniel Paulista.
With the hiring of Hélio dos Anjos last Friday to take over the reins, the club and the athlete have reached a mutual agreement to end their relationship. There could also be more departures this week.
Jorge, now 28, arrived at CRB in April, but only played ten games, with two assists against Avaí and Coritiba. He arrived in Maceió with great expectations from the fans and the local press, after spending time in the main clubs of the Rio-São Paulo axis. However, things did not work out and the athlete failed to become a starter.
Until then, the full-back had not played for over a year, due to a serious injury to his right knee while still wearing the jersey of Tricolore Rio, in February of last year. Santos signed him in the second half of the year, but he did not play. His return to the field took place against Avaí, in the Brazilian Serie B, on May 14.
