Obviously, it’s everywhere. Anthony Hopkins, who appeared in two Rebel Moon films this year (he provided the voice of Robot Jimmy), also appeared in the credits of the Gladiator series The About to Die, which aired this summer on Prime Video. In addition, the latter this year played the main role in the biographical film A Life, dedicated to the life of Nicholas Winton.
At 86, Hannibal Lecter’s unforgettable interpreter doesn’t seem ready to retire! The latter will, in fact, be one of Maryam’s major, historical films, revisiting the famous chapter of the Bible. In this feature film from DJ Caruso (Paranoiac), Anthony Hopkins really delivers his features as King Herod Archelaus.
Young actor Noah Cohen (Silent Game) will play the main role of Maryam. Halfway between a historical film and a thriller, the feature film follows the hunt by Herod’s soldiers for the baby Jesus and his parents Mary and Joseph. The film’s screenplay, written by Timothy Michael Hayes, is a free adaptation of the Massacre of the Innocents story told in the Gospel according to Matthew.
A living legend of cinema, Anthony Hopkins has twice won the Oscar for Best Actor, The Silence of the Lambs and then The Father. In the past, the latter appeared in other biblical productions, notably in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah or the mini-series Peter and Paul (as Paul of Tarsus).
The movie Mary is scheduled to be released this year, exclusively on Netflix.
