On September 12 we will meet the winners.
Series like ‘Succession’, ‘Ted Lasso’ or ‘Euphoria’ have monopolized the nominations in this new edition of the Emmy Awards, the American television awards. In a golden moment for Netflix series, HBO Max, Disney + and other platforms of streamingas well as on free-to-air television, these awards are a fabulous measure of the best series of the moment: their nominations bring together the best Netflix series in 2022, such as ‘Stranger Things’, although the platform has been second in number of nominations against the best HBO Max series in 2022, such as ‘The Staircase’, which lead the pack.
They have been truly historic nominations. Zendaya becomes the youngest nominee in history as a producer and the youngest to get two nominations for Best Actress thanks to her work in the second season ‘Euphoria’. Although the big surprise has been given by ‘The Squid Game’, one of the most watched Netflix series in its history and the first non-English speaking series to be nominated in the category of Best Drama Series in its entire history. There is nothing! South Korean production continues to bring joy to the platform. Will we be able to include it soon among the most awarded and good Netflix series?
Also noteworthy in the nominations is the dominance in supporting acting categories for HBO Max’s ‘The White Lotus’, which will attract the public in 2021 with its vacation resort full of mysteries and miseries of rich people. Although, as we see at the end of ‘The White Lotus’, the rich suffer but always win. Against her in the category of Best Miniseries stand out titles like Hulu’s ‘The Dropout’ and ‘Who is Anna?’ from Netflix.
In addition, while we wait for the fourth season of ‘Succession’, the series could be done again with the great prizes of the night. Or could the fourth season of ‘Stranger Things’ steal the glory? And in comedy, can anyone break the momentum of ‘Hacks,’ the smash hit starring Jean Smart? Does ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’, the great Amazon Prime Video bet, still have energy to reach the top, or will ‘Only murders in the building’ manage to transform the public’s love into a landslide victory?
