Top Gun: Maverick’s Miles Teller reveals the origin of his shirtless viral dance

Top Gun: Maverick It has pretty much everything a movie buff could want from a summer blockbuster. It has Tom Cruise, a lovely cast, awesome jets, and of course a scene involving shirtless pilots playing soccer on a beach. This latter piece attracted a lot of attention, especially for Miles Teller (who plays Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw). During the sequence, Teller did a shirtless dance that has since gone viral . The actor has already responded to the hype, but is now giving more insight into his breaking moment in the film.

The football scene takes place during the second act of the sequel and in it Tom Cruise’s Maverick uses the game to create camaraderie among his Top Gun recruits. The teacher’s method is effective and the end result is a fun sequence full of sand, sun and luminous abs. Miles Teller was on full display when he danced and the actor seemed more than comfortable with him as he danced. He opened up about his moves as he appeared DESUS AND MERO explaining that it is somewhat inspired by a classic movie:

It was a move my friends and I used to do at parties and shit. Because I think for me dancing has always been ‘don’t take yourself too seriously’. So I’m sure people could find it online, I always knew this prom was the weekend at Bernie’s prom. Where you are the king of the dead and your shoulders roll.

Come to think of it, it certainly follows, but it worked at that time as well. From the mood of the sequence, it seemed that all the stars felt a level of freedom during filming. It’s probably because they weren’t sure at the time what the final cut would do, according to the Rooster actor:

But to be honest, on the beach when we shot that scene, no one knew when the cameras were on them. Because we just did some things and they did them. So I had no idea they captured that moment.

Long before the movie was released it was clear that the football scene had to parallel the original film’s shirtless volleyball sequence, a moment that “Danger Zone” singer Kenny Loggins thinks it’s important . (However, I’d argue that the sequel’s big beach game is more vital to the sequel’s storyline.) All in all, the Top Gun: Maverick the actors broke their asses to prepare for the scene, with the exception of Tom Cruise, who apparently didn’t need much preparation.

While Miles Teller did his part in the prep, his co-star Glen Powell really made a commitment to heal before the cameras start rolling. Collaborator Dissident Student Lewis Pullman recalled his education and he remembered Powell repeating a funny song to himself . But once the work is done, finally able to eat and relax a little. I guess some of his co-stars did the same.

Glen Powell’s aforementioned chant was “the changes last forever” and I think it’s safe to say that viewers will never forget the Miles Teller football sequence or dance. I’m sure a lot of people are as she waits for him and Cruise to reunite best cannon 3 then you have another chance to stop a move.

Those who wish to revisit or see the moment for the first time can see Top Gun: Maverick in theaters now.
