The meeting is promoted by the newspaper Folha de São Paulo and by UOL this Monday 30th
The first block of the debate promoted by Folha de São Paulo and UOL this Monday 30th was marked by criticism of the management of the current mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and by a personal revelation by Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) during a clash with Pablo Marçal (PRTB).

In addition to Nunes, Boulos and Marçal, Tabata Amaral (PSB) also participates in the debate. The organization has invited the best candidates from the Datafolha poll, which is why José Luiz Datena (PSDB) and Marina Helena (Novo), who have already participated in previous debates, are excluded for this Monday.
In the first block, journalist Raquel Landim confronted Nunes about the contradiction in his statements regarding the vaccine passport. “In November you gave an interview to GloboNews stating that you would maintain the dismissal of three city hall employees and classified the ordinance as ‘very inappropriate,’” Landim recalls. “Now, during the election campaign, you said that you didn’t fire anyone for lack of a vaccination passport. Which version should voters trust?”
In response, Nunes said he had learned from his mistakes and highlighted the positive vaccine numbers in Sao Paulo. “The pandemic started five years ago. It’s natural that, throughout the process, you learn and adapt. It’s okay to be humble and correct what needs to be corrected.”
Tabata then intervened, criticizing Nunes’ ally Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for hindering the vaccination campaign. He pointed out that former mayor Bruno Covas (PSDB) took an opposite direction to Bolsonaro and facilitated immunization in the capital. “Is it possible to trust someone who constantly changes his position?” asked Tabata, referring to Nunes’ change of position on vaccination, suggesting that this would be motivated by electoral calculations.
Marçal also asked to speak and accused his competitors of having changed their opinion due to the elections. When the question of changes in position extended to controversial issues, such as the legalization of abortion, the use of marijuana and the recognition of Venezuela as a dictatorship, Boulos complained of an attempt at ideological debate and devoted part of his time also to criticize Ricardo Nunes.
Then, Boulos and Marçal became involved in an argument after Marçal was questioned about using the case of another person with the same name to associate Boulos with cocaine use. Marçal tried to avoid talking about the topic, simply stating that he will release more information on other topics the following week.
Boulos then revealed a personal episode: “When he [Marçal] mentions Hospital do Servidor, refers to a time when, at the age of 19, I was dealing with chronic depression. I’ve never said that publicly.”
Marçal, however, continued to attack Boulos, stating that his “principle is to destroy public property” and accusing him of supporting crack and advocating the decriminalization of all drugs. Boulos replied: “I have no intention of arguing like this with a citizen”, denouncing Marçal’s attempt at “yet another fake news”.
