Batman villains continue to inspire Hollywood. While the Joker sequel, Folie à Deux, is in theaters and the Penguin character is currently in the works, DC isn’t going to stop there. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that a film project reuniting Bane and Deathstroke is currently in development.
If the director is not announced at this stage, the script is written. It will be written by Matthew Orton, the screenwriter of the next Captain America, Brave New World.
The character of Bane is relatively new to the Batman universe. He first appeared in the comics in 1993. Four years later, he made his first appearance in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin and returned in 2012 as Tom Hardy in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
A lesser-known antagonist, Deathstroke, appeared in the comics in 1980. In cinema, he only appeared in the post-credits scene in Zack Snyder’s directorial portion of Justice League. He is played by Joe Manganiello. A character-driven film, still with the actor, was in development at Warner Bros. before it was abandoned.

No information has revealed the theme of this film, which will bring the two villains together, but the project is part of DC’s desire to highlight Batman’s enemies in separate works. Most recently, it’s Penguin, played by Colin Farrell, the hero of his own series on HBO Max, which began on September 20.
In a completely different style, Todd Phillips’ Joker is also a great example of a spin-off. The sequel, Folie à Deux, which reunites Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is expected in theaters this Wednesday, October 2.
