Why were scenes from ‘Thor 4’ with Lena Headey, Jeff Goldblum and Peter Dinklage cut?

Taika Waititi has revealed why ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ cameos were cut on the cutting room floor

The news that the original montage of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ was 4 hours long has been circulating for a few weeks, and its director Taika Waititi has confirmed it on more than one occasion. Waititi has had to cut almost half the footage to release the Marvel movie in theatersand among those discards are the scenes that the stars of ‘Game of Thrones’ shot Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage and the protagonist of the ‘Jurassic World’ saga Jeff Goldblum.

Goldblum and Dinklage reprized their MCU roles as The Grandmaster and Eitri, respectively, while Heady was set to debut a new character. However, the filmmaker has claimed that the scenes “weren’t good enough” to pass the cut.

“When you cut something it’s a bit of a challenge to yourself because you’re like, ‘I’m not that good? Should I have seen it coming? But in every movie I’ve done, I’ve probably cut the same amount,” Waititi recently told Insider. “When you get into editing, you never know. A scene itself could be the funniest or most intriguing thing, but sometimes those things, if you keep them up, will just bring the movie to a halt. So you have to do what’s best for the movie.”

“And if you ask any of those actors who were eliminated, Jeff Goldblum, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage… They all understand how this works”, continued the director. “They have been in the game long enough. This is how things are”.

They will understand how things work, yes, but at least Headey will not have been very amused. Lena Heady has been denounced by her representative for ‘Thor 4’ and other previous projects. The British Troika agency asks $1.5 million to the actress for commissions from various roles that, according to the company, have not been paid. One of these commissions would be $500,000 (7% of Headey’s salary) for his earnings on the filming of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’although finally his participation has been cut.

Waititi would not reveal anything about the scenes featuring Headey, Goldblum or Dinklage, adding: “I don’t want people to see the deleted scenes, because they’re deleted for a reason: they’re not good enough.. The scenes weren’t in the movie and that’s it.”

Will we see them as extras on the DVD/Bluray edition?
