during a Interview On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Mariska Hargitay made a surprising discovery. “All famous people, you know what they want? To be a corpse! This is so weird“, he told during the program.
The actress then explained that a “very famous top model” asked her to appear in the skin of a corpse. “I realized that he liked my series“, he said.
“I went to the writers and asked if it could be featured. He told me he wanted to play a corpse, but I said, no, no, we have a big role for you. Then I called him and said: “Look, it’s okay! You will be able to appear in the series. To which he replied, “Oh no, I want to play a corpse.”“.
“This happens all the time“- he added. “Why don’t all these famous people have lines?“.
American host Seth Meyers later revealed that he had asked to play a corpse in a New York special and that he had been offered a real one. Then he refused and explained: “I don’t want any dialogue, I just want to be dead in the park.“
Fact and fiction get mixed up
It’s been 25 years since Mariska Hargitay played Olivia Benson, a heroine who tirelessly fights sex crimes. A role that was not always easy for the actor to interpret, as he admitted during the interview.
“There were times when I didn’t know how to defend myself and I thought I was traumatized by telling these stories because I knew they were true“, he confided.
“These are parts of the job I didn’t know how to master, especially since there were so many stories to tell. That’s why I created the Joyful Heart Foundation. I wanted to say that I was doing something for these people.”
