The Mercedes C-Class dominates the microhybrid niche in September

With the C 200 and C 300 versions, Mercedes-Benz C-Class surpasses Kia Sportage in the micro-hybrid market, with MHEV technology

It is not very easy to know which are the best-selling microhybrid cars (with MHEV technology) each month, since ABVE only publishes the ranking by version, which causes distortions. But Guia do Carro added the versions and the result appears here. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was the best-selling microhybrid in September and not the Kia Sportage, as the ABVE chart shows.

With 78 sales of the C 300 AMG Line version and 72 sales of the C 200 AMG Line version, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class dominated the ranking in the microhybrid niche, with a total of 150 units. The Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles no longer calls these cars “mild hybrids” because the technology they use is much inferior to that of a true hybrid – as they do not offer electric drive.

With only one version, the Kia Sportage ranked second with 111 registrations. Immediately afterwards another Mercedes appears, the GLA, with 97 registrations, of which 77 of the 200 AMG Line version and 14 of the 200 Progressive, 6 of the AMG 35.

The Top 5 microhybrid models are completed by two Land Rover models: the Range Rover came in fourth place with 66 sales and the Defender came fifth with 64. See below for the ranking with 14 microhybrid models as of September/2024.
