Brazilians have 10 days to claim forgotten money; R$8.59 billion is available


The new law also provides a six-month period for citizens to claim the right to deposits in court if they do not request withdrawal beforehand.

More than 44 million people, including individuals and companies, still have money in the Values ​​​​​​Receivable System (SVR), according to the Central Bank. More than R$8.59 billion is available for consultation on the platform, with another R$8 billion already withdrawn since the system launched.

Now, anyone who hasn’t checked whether they might have forgotten money should get ahead of themselves: From Thursday 16 October, unrequested amounts can be withdrawn from the Union.

Confiscation is part of Law no. 14,973which provides for the use of unredeemed sums to offset tax relief on economic sectors. Despite this, the law sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) establishes a six-month deadline for the citizen to contest the withdrawal and request the right to deposits in court.

Despite the demand for looting since the law was announced, the August was the month with the lowest withdrawal in 2024. R$255 million was requested. In May, the month with the highest amount withdrawn this year, R$328 million was requested via consultation on the platform.

Most people who have money to redeem have small amounts, between R$0 and R$10. Check:

  • 33,054,663 individuals have between R$ 0 and R$ 10;
  • 13,100,665 individuals have between R$ 10.01 and R$ 100;
  • 5,199,898 individuals have between R$100.01 and R$1,000;
  • 940,024 individuals own more than R$ 1,000.01.

The Central Bank warns that the only site where you can consult the credits is the https://valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br. You need to access the site and click on “Check if you have amounts to receive”. Enter the data and click on “Consult”.
