Tonight on TV: Proof that Christian Bale can play anything, Batman… or Moses!

Whether live action or animation, epic frescoes that recount the life of Moses are not uncommon in cinema. Among the most famous, The Ten Commandments (1958), The Prince of Egypt (1998) and of course Ridley Scott’s Speech: Gods and Kings.

Released in theaters in 2014, this epic recounts the life of Moses, taking some liberties and not forgetting the main issues. And to play this biblical character, none other than Christian Bale has been roped in.

Ramses will be played by Joel Edgerton (Dark Matter), his parents John Turturro (The O’Brothers) and Sigourney Weaver (Alien), and Joshua, Moses’ servant, by Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad).

From his hero’s youth to exile, the actor follows the same pattern as before The Ten Commandments. He conveys the rebel leader’s struggle to save the Jewish people from slavery, turning Moses into a muscular soldier and strategist who does not hesitate to draw his sword as a mighty warrior.

Once again, this true chameleon of body and soul has undergone an extreme physical transformation to embody this biblical legend on screen.
