Tom and Lola return tonight for two new episodes! And the least we can say is that the audience is in good shape since the start of the series last Tuesday.
A success that is, of course, related to the obvious complicity of the two main actors. Indeed, the alchemy of Pierre-Yves Bon (Tom) and Dounia Cozens (Lola) clearly shines on the screen in this fiction created for France TV.
But then, was there an obvious choice between the two actors? Producer Sebastien Pavard answered this question in a France 3 press release:
“We wrote the role of Lola with Dunya in mind”
“I knew Pierre-Yves, who I had seen in other fiction, but we wrote the role of Lola mainly with Dunya in mind. We talked to him about it pretty quickly because he represented everything we wanted to bring to the series.”
He continues: “We saw Pierre-Yves in Piste Noire, France Télévisions quickly told us about him and we put all our trust in him. We wanted to test the chemistry between these two, if their eyes were talking to each other. It seemed very important to us.”
In turn, the former star of Plus belle la vie confirms: “I remember doing tests with Pierre-Yves and I immediately felt that we were a team, that we immediately created a certain bond that we wanted to protect on screen.
“The chemistry between Tom and Lola was born pretty quickly”
Even more surprisingly, their connection was born naturally, as Pierre-Yves Bon explains: “The chemistry between Tom and Lola was born pretty quickly. We didn’t know Dunia at all, and we were lucky enough to develop a bond between the characters before we started shooting.”
“We realized we’re like Tom and Lola, we made this friendship” And Dunia Coessens added:We spent a lot of time together and even shared rooms to recreate that dynamic.”
We asked ourselves the same questions as Tom and Lola: How long does it take to shower… what time do you get up… A job that paid off, as it’s clear that their complicity is one of the assets of this new detective series.
