what are you talking about
Newly released from prison after a 25-year sentence, former New York mob boss Dwight Manfred, known as “The General,” is unceremoniously fired by a crime lord.
Relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dwight decides to form his own team of colorful characters. Will he succeed in rebuilding a new criminal empire in such an unlikely location?
Tulsa King, created by Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter, with Sylvester Stallone.
who is he with
There’s no doubt that Dwight Manfred was a match for Sylvester Stallone. Sly’s natural charisma lends itself perfectly to the role as a magnanimous gunslinger who is jailed for 25 years for taking responsibility for a crime committed by his clan leader.
Alongside him, Andrea Savage (iZombie) plays Stacey Beale, a female cop who discovers Manfred’s past after they first meet him… an alcoholic. The latter’s past reveals her true personality and explains why a woman with such potential ended up in an abandoned town like Tulsa.
The team recruited by Manfred to build his new criminal empire includes Jay Will as Tyson, an apprentice taxi driver for the mafia, and Martin Starr (Silicon Valley) as the fun-loving Bohd, a drug lord.
Finally, many “faces” who are used to tough guy roles fill the cast of the program: Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Domenic Lombardozzi (The Wire) and Garrett Hedlund (Triple Frontière).
Rule number 1: Do not confuse coquetry with class.
MAFIA BLUES
After experiencing everything in the movies, success and failure, Sylvester Stallone takes the lead role for the first time in a TV series. In Tulsa King, the interpreter of Rocky Balboa and John Rambo lends his qualities to a New York mobster who was exiled by his clan and exiled to the quiet town of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Behind the scenes, two of the biggest names in American television joined forces to create this event project: Taylor SheridanThe creator of the Yellowstone franchise and Terence WinterCreator of Boardwalk Empire and one of the main writers of the TV series The Sopranos.
The iconic mafia series is certainly among Tulsa King’s inspirations, a connection especially evident in the opening credits after Manfred’s arrival in Oklahoma, which involves Tony Soprano’s trip, cigar in mouth, to New Jersey. From the suburbs of New York to deep America is just a step away!

Stallone doing Stallone and it’s much better
Unlike today’s series, Tulsa King offers episodes that rarely exceed 40 minutes in length. This is the perfect format for this series, certainly not in a very original way, but completely enjoyable, thanks to the touch of humor inserted into the dramatic tones of this program.
As a thick-skinned brute who abides by a code of honor from another era, Sylvester Stallone is absolutely perfect. The 76-year-old actress doesn’t shy away from flaunting her mechanics and puffing out her chest every time she’s on screen to make herself look tougher than she really is.
However, on the negative side, one might regret that the story takes a back seat too often. There aren’t many issues at stake, and very quickly the series is content to have a problem to solve in each episode – which will most often be solved by violence.

A slug that will cost Manfred dearly!
But since the series is mostly focused on its character development rather than its plot development, the slow pace of its narrative isn’t much of a problem.
It’s a safe bet that Tulsa King will be able to surprise you with unexpected scenes of emotion, offering this tough, brutal main character more depth and complexity.
Therefore, Tulsa King is a series that can be devoured with great pleasure, but do not worry if you finish it in one go, because the second season is currently streaming on the Paramount+ platform!
The first season of Tulsa King can be seen tonight for the first time on encrypted M6.
