Netflix: Bad news for this fantastic series despite good reviews!

Gods of Olympus will not have the rights to a second season on Netflix. The platform recently announced the cancellation of Kaos, its fantasy series starring Jeff Goldblum as the megalomaniac Zeus.

A choice that’s semi-surprising when we look at its audience curve. Despite several weeks in the top ten in France and elsewhere, as well as a 3.6 out of 5 on its AlloCiné profile (7.5/10 on IMDB), Kaos failed to build loyalty.

“Why is cancellation possible when it’s surrounded by renewed series?” It seems to me to be in a different category with its budget and the fact that it has been 6 years since its announcement highlights the difficult production. So if, in addition, the figures are average, or even not good, you have the ingredients of the “cancelled after one season” cocktail. Let it be known Newsletter Netflix and figures author.

The American giant, which relies on viewing figures for the first 28 days, did not wait to announce this cancellation (the series was released on August 29), proof that its renewal was not really considered.

open end

This undoing of Chaos threatens many viewers, who for eight episodes have become attached to the three mortals chosen to destroy Olympus: Reed (Aurora Perrineau), Kane (Missia Butler) and Ari (Leila Farzad). If Jeff Goldblum is the headliner, in the end it is these three actors who stand out from the crowd and give us beautiful moments of emotion.

Eurydice’s translator also shared her pain in an Instagram post – since deleted – but relayed Diversity : “This news is particularly painful. For the first time in my life, I was proud of what I had achieved. It was something I always tried“.

It should also be said that the end of season 1 opened the door to season 2, which would put Zeus in an awkward position. Viewers will never know who this mysterious character is who managed to free Prometheus in Episode 8 and who set the prophecy in motion…
